Jonah / The Process

Wrangling the Return of Jonah

Ever since Jonah’s scheduled, yet premature, demise in mid-February (shows were briskly selling out, but the SCERA was committed to other bookings coming in), we’ve been doing our best to wrangle Jonah back to the stage. Turns out that even though we’ve run the show before, getting it back on its feet is still a sizable undertaking. Many pieces have to fall into place. Actually, that’s not saying it right at all. These kinds of pieces don’t typically “fall into place.” We usually have to stomp on them.

Pieces like finding a venue that’s large enough that we can keep our ticket prices in the family friendly neighborhood, yet still allow us to make enough to be fiscally responsible. And pieces like finding a window when we can get as much of our cast and crew back as possible. (Ever try finding an open four-week period in the calendars of several dozen ridiculously busy people?)

Nothing comes easily (where would be the fun in that?), but the stomping seems to be working, and it’s looking like the pieces are finally coming together. We hope to be able to announce something soon.

In the meantime, I took a little time out from editing the movie to put together this little teaser trailer for the summer run. I keep tweaking it a little, but here’s what it’s looking like at the moment:

Wouldn’t it be nice to get these fine people back together again?

  1. I watched it every night and I still laughed, cried, got goose bumps. This show is so amazing. I am so grateful that my sweet little girl got to experience such an amazing opportunity. thank you

  2. I only saw a couple seconds of her but those seconds were adorable. She looks like she is playing her part so perfectly. What a little actress!

  3. LOVE IT! my family and I saw it at the Scera and my kids still talk about it all the time (5 yr and 3 yr). We will be getting tickets for the next showing – no question about it! The filming looks fantastic! Can’t wait!

  4. Pleeeeease! We would LOVE to see this again on stage! What a fun story and such fantastic music! It’s a sight to see our minivan driving down the road with “Who’s side are you on?” blaring from the speakers! And such great actors! (and they’re so nice, too!) 🙂 Thanx for putting together such a fun family show!

  5. I cannot wait for the movie to come out!

The play was awesome. I’m glad to have been a part of it, I’ve seen it many times, and it never gets old.

The break dance scene was the best!
